Manly Adventures

More Than A Hobby
| July 01, 2015

When it comes to indoor activities, there are finite ways for a man to enjoy the weekend. Web surfing, binge-watching movies, eat take-out, repeat. But if you’re stuck in a rut somewhere between episodes 10 and 11 of your favorite show on Netflix, then it may be time to get off of the couch and give nature a chance. There are a plethora of outdoor activities to satiate any man’s thirst for adventure. All you need to do is pack your toothbrush and deodorant in Miansai's Lido kit and you're off.

A tried-and-true classic is rock climbing. Available at outdoor adventure parks, and even some malls, rock climbing is a less intense, safer alternative to climbing Everest, with just as much of a rush. Why not stay close to home by strolling through the streets on a handsome, elegant designed Mozie bicycle while you relish in the surroundings.

Fishing and boating are other classics that may have seemed boring when your dad dragged you along as a kid, but now serve as soothing mini-breaks from an otherwise hectic life. The tranquility of waiting for the big fish to take the bait, as you gaze at the horizon filtered by a pair of sunglasses by Parkman and feeling the wind in your hair while out on your boat are definitely calming, without rendering your brain comatose.

If you need a bit more kick, there’s always surfing. Blending cardio, adrenaline, and the majesty of the ocean, surfing is a great way to reinvigorate yourself and get a fantastic workout after a draining work week.

Need even more adventure? Every man has wondered at one point or another if they could survive the end of the world; how could you not, with apocalypse-themed TV shows and movies (probably the kind you’ve been watching every other weekend) everywhere you turn. Well, fear not! Take out that travel gear and practice survival techniques outdoors, by yourself or with a group. From navigation, to making shelter, to finding food, and you’ll learn everything you need in order to avoid becoming a zombie movie clique. Of course, if you need to get back to reality you can always take your iPad travel kit by Twelve South and stay connected.

Whether you want to learn something new, or re-explore an old favorite, the dent you’ve made on the couch might be a hint that home has seen enough of you, so stretch your legs, and go explore the great outdoors!
